Last minute trading

While we all dream about getting rid of our bad contracts a couple of trades have gone down.

First, the Lobes send Tejada and Vazquez to the Stocks for Pedro (back to Minnesota for Pedro)

Then the Lobes stayed busy sending minor leaguer Brad Snyder to the 500 for Jon Lieber.

2005 Ricky Henderson Award

The League of Champions Most Valuable Player. The Man. The King of Kings. The..um...uh...oh, it's ARod. This is his third Ricky (to go along with his 4 Mitchells). And, no, there is no truth to the nasty rumor that he lost one of his Mitchells in an illegal poker game to Gina Gershon. Now, his ability to hit in the postseason, that I cannot confirm or deny.

The results:

Alex Rodriguez 16
David Ortiz 7
Alfonso Soriano 4
Johan Santana 3
Mark Teixeira 3
Carl Crawford 1
Travis Hafner 1
Mariano Rivera 1

2005 Kevin Mitchell Award

League HQ has been flooded with calls to reveal the winners of the final two awards and who am I to say no to the people. So...

This year's top hitter as voted by (some of) you? Why Alex Rodriguez, of course. Minnesota's monster free agent pick-up came through like the stud he is. Worth the record-setting salary? Maybe not, but how much is a LOC Championship worth? No, seriously, let me know because I have three of them and really only have room for two right now.

Anyway, the results:

Alex Rodriguez 17
David Ortiz 11
Mark Teixeira 5
Manny Ramirez 3

2005 Rick Reuschel Award

Another award, another repeat winner. Not that there's anything wrong with that, especially when that winner is Minnesota ace Johan Santana. Granted, his 2K5 was a comedown from his 2K4, but then again, most seasons would be. He's pretty good is what I'm saying.

The results:

Johan Santana 16
Pedro Martinez 9
Andy Pettitte 9
Mark Buehrle 2

2005 Mark Davis Award

Enter Sandman. Again. Cactus Franks checkmate, Mariano Rivera, takes home his second straight Davis and the third of his career. Not much else to say. He's not the best closer in history for nothing, folks.

The results:

Mariano Rivera 11
Joe Nathan 9
B.J. Ryan 7
Francisco Rodriguez 6
Bob Wickman 3
